To celebrate what feels like a step towards being able to explore the globe once again, we’ve recently launched our all-new, revamped Argentina Internship. It’s available for sign-ups right now and promises to whisk you off to one of the most immersive, eye-watering, nature-rich, tango-twirling countries on the planet.

An overview of the myTEFL Argentina Internship
The myTEFL Argentina Internship is a package that’s designed to give you all the necessary qualifications for becoming a teacher abroad, not to mention a guaranteed job placement in one of the most amazing countries in South America. The whole thing lasts seven months, including one month for the course completion and a six-month teaching placement in either an online or in-person school. You’ll be living and working in the buzzy metropolis of Buenos Aires throughout.
Why a take a TEFL internship?
A TEFL internship is a great way to get your foot in the door. By grouping a TEFL qualification (in this case, a 120-hour accredited on-site course) and a job placement, it makes the whole process of becoming a teacher all the easier. It’s as simple as signing up and then we take care of the rest.
Internships are also generally a safer and more managed way of starting that TEFL and travel journey. Everything is planned out from the beginning, whether that’s your accommodation in Argentina (which we can help you secure) or the job you enter once your training is done. You also get 24/7 support from our team and a community of likeminded people to meet as soon as you touchdown in the home of tango dancing and Messi.
What’s included in the myTEFL Argentina Internship?
Here’s what’s included in the internship:
- 120-hour Accredited TEFL certificate – The bee’s knees of the TEFL world, a 120-hour TEFL certificate is one of the first milestones you’ll complete on the Argentina Internship. You can start work on it right away after signing up.
- Real classroom training – We run a month of training prior to the start of your job placement in Argentina. This will help you finesse your skills as a TEFL teacher and involves a 10-hour hands-on practicum module.
- Accommodation assistance – We don’t actively offer accommodation as part of the package because we know lots of people like to choose this themselves. However, we can help you find somewhere and have options in shared apartments or family homestays that have all been vetted by local staff.
- Paid teaching placement – This is it! Your six-month teaching placement. You’ll either work in a local school in Buenos Aires or become a digital nomad teaching online. Either way, you’re now a bona fide English teacher abroad! Earnings are $500-700/month.
What will I earn on the Argentina Internship?
The myTEFL Argentina Internship is a paid program. Salaries are roughly in line with the basic rate of pay for English teachers in the country. You’ll get around $500/month if you don’t hold a university degree. However, that can increase to $700 if you do hold a qualification from a higher education institution.
What are the requirements for applicants to the Argentina Internship?
There are some basic requirements that we ask of all applicants to the Argentina Internship:
- You’ve got to be over 18 years of age.
- Be a native English or native-level English speaker (that means an IELTS score of at least 6.5).
- You must be able to enter Argentina on a tourist visa.
How many hours will I work on the Argentina internship?
The placement phase involves an average of 20-30 hours each week. That varies depending on the school you end up in but will also be different if you go for the online teaching option. Lots of interns also choose to do some private tutoring or extra work online to top up what they take home. Remember that we list only contact hours above. They don’t include time taken for lesson planning or marking homework.
Where will I be living?
In Buenos Aires. And if that sounds like it would be exotic, that’s because it is! This is one of the most electrifying cities in South America. Districts like heady Palermo and the multicolored San Telmo barrio are forever buzzing with life and action. There are traditional Gaucho parrillas (Argentine BBQ grill houses) on every corner offering some of the juiciest steaks you’re ever likely to try, along with tango dance halls that ooze 1930s charm and style.
However, BA is just half the story. You should also have plenty of time to explore the rest of the country. It might be a 24-hour bus away, but the jagged peaks and glaciers of Patagonia beckon to the south. Going westwards will open up the winelands of Mendoza Province. Or check out the city of Córdoba, where grand Spanish monuments crown the moody plazas. There’s going to be loads to see!
