Once settled in, you will begin your intensive 140 hour TEFL course. The course runs for 4 weeks and covers all aspects of teaching EFL. Plenty of observed and actual teaching practice is interspersed throughout the course to allow for application of new knowledge.

An accredited 140 hour TEFL certificate is awarded upon successful course completion.

It’s not all work! Aside from evening jaunts to the local cantinas, weekend excursions are often arranged for a change of scenery. These are a great way to explore more areas of the country with other interns and experienced local staff.

Afraid you’ll have a hard time because your Spanish is…. rusty? One week of professional Spanish lessons are included to ensure you know the basics. Salud!

At the end of the course, our placement team will find a paid teaching position for you in Mexico.

Most placements are full time positions in public schools, where you will work from Monday to Friday. Some positions are with adult students, in corporate settings and/or test preparation.

You can expect to earn between $900 to $1,200 USD per month as a new teacher. Bear in mind the cost of living in Mexico (outside of the resorts) is very low and your salary should cover your expenses and then some.

Besides getting your 140 Hour TEFL certification, you will gain valuable teaching experience through the program. This will go a long way when applying for future teaching positions anywhere in the world. Many of our graduates choose to travel throughout Latin America, while some decide to stay on in Mexico and continue teaching.
