Thailand TEFL INTERNSHIP FAQS

English teachers in Thailand will earn between 30,000 and 40,000 Thai Baht per month.

Non-natives with a neutral accent, and a good command of English are eligible to apply for our Thailand TEFL internship.

A standard English teaching placement in Thailand is one year in length. Candidates may also seek shorter terms such as 3 or 6 month TEFL placements.

Accommodations are included for the Orientation. Accommodations are based on twin occupancy. Private accommodations are available if desired.

A medical check from your home country is necessary.

Pets are strongly discouraged. The costs and logistics of bringing a pet are nearly prohibitive. Finding accommodations would be much more difficult.

TEFL training starts with our 120 Hour online TEFL course which will cover everything you need to handle your own classes. Upon arrival in Hua Hin, you will complete additional TEFL workshops covering Thai cultural immersion, Thai language, along with a standard teaching segment.

While TEFL schools in Thailand hire throughout the year, the peak times are in May and November.

Our team on the ground in Thailand along with your employer will help you find housing. There are various types of accommodations and locations available, and the decision on where to live is based on personal preference. At no point are you accommodation hunting "on your own" during the training and placement.

Medical insurance is not included. All myTEFL Thailand interns should arrive with proof of travel insurance. This is the insurance we recommend for the first 3 months in Asia.

A bachelor degree or higher is necessary to teach English in Thailand.

Thailand TEFL interns need to hold a passport from the US, UK, CA, IR, ZA, AU or NZ. If you do not have one of these passports, you may be interested in our Thailand placement.

Yes, friends and couples are welcome to apply to TEFL in Thailand together. Flexibility in location is key to ensuring a placement in the same school, or at least in the same area.

We recommend having at least US $1,500 to bring with you to cover personal costs and having a safety buffer before you receive your initial salary payment.

Applicants must have a clean criminal background check with no criminal record, previous arrests, or charges. It will need to be notarized and legalized before arriving in Thailand.

Job placements occur all over the country. Some TEFL locations include Bangkok City, Chiang Mai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Hua Hin, Sakhon Nakhon in Isan Province, and Buriram in Isan Province.

Knowing Thai is not necessary, but learning a few phrases and words will make you a hit with the locals. Survival Thai language lessons are included during the Orientation.

Your placement in Thailand will mainly be in elementary/high schools, or private training centres.

Full visa support is provided. You will enter Thailand on a Non-Immigrant B visa for this program.

In order to successfully pass your course you must obtain a minimum average of 65% across each unit. It’s okay if you fail a few quizzes as long as your average score is over 65% per unit. If you do end up failing an entire unit, you will be prompted to reset and retake it before moving forward.
