SECURING A TEFL POSITION IN SAUDI ARABIA
Most positions are with Colleges and Universities who tend to hire for a late August start. It is best to start searching and applying for positions in early spring. There are also private language school positions in which students are seeking IELTS and TOEFL instruction which hire year round.
To teach in Saudi Arabia, you will generally require a bachelor’s degree and either some teaching experience or a TEFL certificate. Sometimes private schools may hire you with just a TEFL, but it may be difficult to secure a work visa without a bachelor degree. Most jobs will be found in major urban areas. It is best to apply for positions online or through a recruiter and have everything in place (contract, work visa) before going to Saudi Arabia. There will be little or no benefit in trying to reach the country first and then find a position.
