The majority of your teaching assignments in Thailand will be with students between the ages of 4 and 18 of varying English capabilities.

The biggest challenges TEFL teachers in Thailand face are language barriers, cultural adaptation, and homesickness. The good thing is Thailand (known as the Land of Smiles) is an especially welcoming country. Studying a bit of the language and the culture before flying out can make the transition easier. It is a good idea to be socially open and start to build your network with other new TEFL teachers, old teachers, colleagues and staff. Most teachers tend to build up vibrant, exciting social lives that minimizes homesickness within a couple of months.

Insurance usually is not included. We recommend purchasing good travel insurance before departing for Thailand. You may choose to purchase a couple months from overseas, and then opt for local insurance from within the country for some cost savings.

The salary of a TEFL teacher in Thailand will cover costs of living and some more. Food, accommodation and transport are very cheap, allowing for a relatively comfortable life on the salary provided.

You can indicate your preferred locations, and we will strive to accommodate them. However, placement depends on demand and available vacancies.

Submit a cover letter, CV/resume, scan of your degree, your TEFL, your passport and a recent photo. You may apply if you are have completed at least 70% of your TEFL. In that case let us know how far you are in your TEFL course when submitting an application for Thailand jobs.

Certainly! If you renew your contract, you would be eligible for pay rate increases and additional bonuses.

Our Thailand TEFL placements do not have a passport requirement provided the other criteria are met. However employers do tend to have a preference for those holding passports from native speaking English countries.

Yes, friends and couples are welcome to apply to TEFL in Thailand together. Flexibility in location is key to ensuring a placement in the same school, or at least in the same area.

It is advisable to bring enough money to cover initial expenses for the first month, including accommodation deposits, food, and transportation. Around $1,000 to $2,000 USD is a reasonable amount.

Yes, a medical check is usually required for the work visa application. This may include a physical examination, blood tests, and chest X-ray.

Yes, a criminal background check from your home country is required as part of the visa application process.

Placements can be in various locations across Thailand, including major cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, as well as smaller towns and rural areas.

Pets are strongly discouraged. The costs and logistics of bringing a pet are nearly prohibitive both monetarily, and time.

It is not necessary to speak Thai to teach English in Thailand, but learning some basic Thai can be helpful for daily life and interactions.

Peak hiring times are generally in April/May for the first semester and October/November for the second semester. However, positions are often available year-round.
