About life in the Land of Smiles
Teach EFL in one of the world’s friendliest countries, as it welcomes you with open arms and wide, happy smiles! Thailand has something for everyone – exciting night life, deep-sea diving, ruins of ancient kingdoms, mouth watering food, and of course the vibrant blend of ancient and modern culture that makes Thailand completely unique. Can you think of a better place to live and work?
EMPLOYMENT PACKAGES
Teaching jobs in Thailand pay more than enough to live comfortably. With extremely low living costs, your salary stretches far! The average teaching packages range from 30,000 to 35,000 THB ($850-$980) p/m and include accommodation assistance and additional training.
Here’s some stuff that makes Thailand totally awesome for me. Meeting up on weekend mornings with other teachers at the local tea stall for a cup of tea and Khao Kai Jeow (literally omelette on rice), and gossip. Waving back at little kids smiling and waving as they drive past with their entire family on a scooter. Kid in front of dad, another one between dad and mom, baby on mom’s lap, and a couple of plastic bags of groceries hanging from the handle-bars. Bargaining with local vendors at the Chatuchak weekend market! Always fun, even though I know I have paid double what something is worth, and the guy is probably laughing about how he profited from the ‘farang’. Late at night, eating Khao Rad Gaeng (rice with a choice of curries and an egg on the side) at one of the hundreds of food stalls, and watching elephants share the street with regular traffic as they make their way home. Just the usual nightly commute! And my personal favourite, Muay Thai Boxing, a graceful yet deadly sport. I could go on and on and on, but really, you gotta do Thailand for yourself. It’s not just a country. It’s the total experience!
