Singapore – meaning the City of Lions, does not have a single lion! But it is one of the 4 Asian Tigers; the World Bank calls it the ‘easiest place to do business’, and one in every six people is a millionaire! It is one of the three remaining city-states in the world and was founded as a British trading colony. Singapore boasts luxurious gardens and outdoor recreation spaces in the midst of a thriving urban environment. It is a truly multicultural country, where every race, culture, religion and language are equally valued and even celebrated on Racial Harmony Day! Let myTEFL help you teach in this beautiful “City in a Garden” that values kindness, honesty, and diversity.
Singapore is the perfect destination for the urban adventurer. Street-food chefs prepare some of the best food on the planet. Go to your local food hub for an out-of-this-world culinary feast! Sample the ‘Singapore Sling’ – a special cocktail first served at the Long Bar of the iconic Raffles Hotel. For a different kind of botanical experience – man-made 50-metre high solar powered trees, visit the Supertree Grove at ‘Gardens at the Bay’. At night, lit up with thousands of lights, this is literally an ‘urban jungle’. The Singapore Botanic Garden hosts the National Orchid Garden which has thousands of special orchid species known as Very Important Plants or VIPs. For spectacular views of the city, take a ride on the Singapore Wheel – the world’s second highest observation wheel. Singapore is proud of its cultural diversity. Religious and racial harmony form the very essence of the Singaporean identity. For a history-rich cultural treat, visit Singapore’s Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. Take a Night Safari at the world’s very first “night zoo” and observe over 1000 species in their nocturnal world. And for the speed demon, the Singapore Grand Prix Racing Circuit offers night-time F1 racing. With a circuit that has more corners than any other race circuit in Formula 1 racing. Singapore has something for everyone! Let myTEFL help you make Singapore your new home-away-from-home while you teach and travel.
